Agriculture is truly the most important industry in the world. Having been involved in farming and custom harvesting all of my life I know that what I’ve done to help feed the world is very rewarding.
Custom harvesting, whether it’s harvesting of grains or forage, takes place throughout the USA each year from March through December in almost every state. We provide a much needed service to family farms no matter what the size. Custom harvesting takes place somewhere around the world everyday as farmers everywhere need help getting what they have worked so hard to produce out of the fields and into the bin in a timely and efficient manner.
U.S. Custom Harvesters, Inc. has members from around the world, making it very interesting to find out the different things that custom harvesters do to help farmers produce a higher quality and better yielding crop. In the United States, along with getting the crops harvested, custom harvesters play a major role in helping the farms they work for by providing the best possible residue management. This is very important for soil and water conservation, helping to assure the continuation of the best crops grown for many years to come.
U.S. Custom Harvesters, Inc. plays a major role in promoting where our safe and abundant food supply comes from. As a major sponsor of The Great American Wheat Harvest documentary, we are proud of our members who have shared with the rest of the world what it takes to get the crops from the field to the table. The documentary allowed us to share what the custom harvesting industry is about and how proud we are to be a vital part of the farmer’s life. Each year we look forward to sponsoring and being a part of National Agriculture Day, our organization is honored to join with farmers and others in the agriculture industry celebrating and promoting agriculture on this special day in Washington, DC. We have also produced harvest safety DVD’s and programs that are available to everyone to help prevent life threatening injuries that could possibly happen at any time. We want our most important resources (current farmers and harvesters), as well as our future farmers and harvesters, to be here for many years to come doing what we do best, grow and harvest the safest and most abundant crops in the world.
